Bawean (Indonesian: Pulau Bawean) is an island of Indonesia located approximately 150 kilometers (93 miles) north of Surabaya in the Java Sea, off the coast of Java. It is administered by Gresik Regency of East Java province.
Pulau ini terdiri atas dua kecamatan, yaitu Kecamatan Sangkapura dan Kecamatan Tambak. Penduduknya berjumlah sekitar 107.000 jiwa dengan mayoritas suku Bawean serta perpaduan beberapa suku dari Jawa, Madura, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, dan Sumatra yang turut mempengaruhi budaya dan bahasanya.
