After the 1996 death of Josephine DeGroot Medendorp Wentzloff, daughter of early settlers Jennie DeYoung and John DeGroot, her personal effects were found to include a yellowed newspaper clipping apparently dating to roughly 1943. The clipping did not include the name of the newspaper in which it was printed.
