Macao’s Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) hoisted the no. 8 typhoon signal at 4:30 pm as the territory began to feel the impact of Severe Typhoon Koinu’s gale force winds. At 4 pm, the storm was located 90 kilometres southeast of Macao.
All typhoon signals have been cancelled, following the passage of Super Typhoon Yagi. According to the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau, Yagi was located 590 kilometres southwest of Macao at 10 am and is forecast to move in a westerly direction, away from the territory.
The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) has raised the no. 1 typhoon signal and says there is a “medium” probability of a no. 3 signal being raised on Saturday morning – possibly in the early hours. Tropical Cyclone Koinu was located about 780 kilometres east of Macao at 5:00 am.
