Shah Alam (/ ʃɑː ˈɑːləm /, from Arabic meaning "king of the world" [3]) is a city and the state capital of Selangor, Malaysia and situated within the Petaling District and a small portion of the neighbouring Klang District. [4] .

Shah Alam is about 20 km west of Kuala Lumpur and a part of the urban sprawl of Klang Valley. The KTM Komuter line from Kuala Lumpur to Klang stops in Shah Alam, but the station is not particularly conveniently located.
