Jun 18, 2023 · I suspect the sharply higher cut off last year (compared to earlier years) could be due to teacher assessed grades for the GCSE 2021 cohort with more top grades being awarded than ever before. Jul 28, 2023 · No-one took exams in 2020 and 2021, with grades decided by teachers instead. When exams returned in 2022, the grade boundaries were intentionally set to produce overall results that were significantly higher than in pre-pandemic years. The most recent A-level grade boundaries, from summer 2023, were much closer to those from just before the pandemic.
