MRT Blue Line Bangkok is the main line of Bangkok metro called MRT (Metropolitan Rapid Transit). Conveniently connected with another MRT line and other Bangkok city train systems, MRT Blue Line links central Bangkok with important areas of the city making it very useful for exploring the main attractions of the city.
The MRT Blue Line (Thai: รถไฟฟ้ามหานคร สายสีน้ำเงิน) or MRT Chaloem Ratchamongkon Line (Thai: รถไฟฟ้ามหานคร สายเฉลิมรัชมงคล) is Bangkok's third rapid transit line, following the Sukhumvit line and Silom line of the BTS Skytrain.
The MRT Blue Line has been the first MRT line open in 2004 and since 2016, the network has expanded with the Purple Line and the Yellow Line and others will come. The MRT Blue Line originally linked the Hua Lamhong district near Chinatown, to Bang Sue station, in the northwest of Bangkok.
Bangkok MRT Blue Line operates daily from 06:00 to midnight. On weekdays, the first train on MRT Blue Line departs from the start of the route at 05:30 and from all other stations just before 06:00. On weekends and public holidays trains start running a bit later but the first departure from all MRT stations is still scheduled not later than 06:03.
As Bangkok often experiences flooding, the M.R.T. Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line Project installs safety measures in the design to prevent rain ingress at each station and tunnels. The station entrances and open channels are designed to be constructed at one meter above the 200-year flood level in Bangkok
