Robert the Bruce sure as shit didn't fight alongside Longshanks at Falkirk. Wallace and his men didn't paint their faces like 3rd century Pictish warriors. William Wallace was never even known as Braveheart.
Oct 7, 2020 · Rob Roy was actually made by MGM after the Braveheart script switched hands to Paramount and was picked-up by Gibson. All the signs were going in the direction of Rob Roy: it had a more established cast, there was greater faith in the script, the director wasn't a sophomore like Gibson, it was really inexpensive and was shot quicker and release sooner.

Nov 15, 2022 · Every time Braveheart comes up people talk about historical inaccuracies but who can blame the filmmakers for adding a love interest? Huge liberties were taken with the battle of Stirling bridge but crucially it works as a piece of cinema, whereas an ambush in a bog by a river would have been more expensive and difficult to shoot.

Jun 30, 2021 · ComparisonChance. ADMIN MOD. Braveheart OR The Patriot. Discussion. Two great Mel Gibson movies. Both star him as leader of a revolution and fighting for freedom of his country. Both are almost three hours long. In both, he fights the English. Both are historical yet historically inaccurate but still great movies.
IMO it's Gladiator > The Northman > Braveheart. Gladiator has the perfect mix of action, emotion, and plot. The Northman was pretty good, but mostly just a straightforward revenge plot. I felt far less connection to the main character than I did with Maximus. And I expected more abstract craziness from Robert Eggers.
