It will happen to anyone eventually when part of their body does not get used. People with dementia often get contractures in the later stages. Some people unfortunately get whole body contractures where they lie curled up on a bed.
Oct 20, 2013 · Sounds like your Dave's hand is clenched as bad as my mum's were (fingers doubled up as much as possible and clenched tight) Yes Lin, Dave has a pit in his palm where his ring finger has been digging into it but oddly, the nail part is more flat, hence the pit. The nurse has to wrap cloth around her finger to clean inside as she can hardly lift ...

Jul 5, 2016 · New Zealand. Jul 6, 2016. #3. Grable said: In the last few days, Mum (vascular dementia and oesophageal cancer) has developed a decided tremble in her right hand, such that I have to steady her hand when she's eating her soup - which is pretty much all she can manage these days. It's only her right hand.
Apr 11, 2013 · 0. Apr 11, 2013. #2. I am not sure about the agitation, but my dad has constant cold hands since the onset of dementia. I put it down to poor circulation but never know if it is the dementia or the strokes, as they both came at the same time. I will be interested, like you, to hear from others on the subject, and also, is there anything we can ...
May 9, 2011 · The movements you describe are quite common in later stages of dementia. They are called myoclonic jerks, if you google that you can find out more. My husband suffered them, sometimes to the extent of knocking a cup out of my hand, but though they surprised us both, I never thought they were painful.
Jul 3, 2011 · Jul 3, 2011. #1. Hi, Dad has declined dramatically since Easter. I know vascular dementia can decline in steps and this seems to be the case. He has completely lost his mobility, now has to be hoisted and his level of confusion is much greater although he still seems content when I visit and recognises me. He doesn't ask to go to the toilet now ...
