  1. Nov 29, 2012 · Downturn in business meant a halt to payment of salaries and dividends and expense advances to the secretary were written off "to be treated as a redundancy payment" - about £4000 so a reasonable figure but not an ideal way of going about it. Pension contributions of about £1500 pa for the company secretary have continued after the redundancy ...

  2. Apr 5, 2016 · The post of company secretary is an "office" rather than an "employment" i.e. it has an existence independent of the person who holds it. An office holder would normally be paid a modest honorarium if the duties of the office are only occasional and minimal, and a salary if they were more regular and more substantial.

  3. Apr 3, 2018 · Whether or not someone is a director or company secretary is irrelevant for s.455 CTA 2010. s.455 applies to loans to participators in a close company and their associates. The individuals may by coincidence also be office holders. Thanks for your replies. The husband is the sole director and shareholder of the company.

  4. Aug 14, 2015 · 14th Aug 2015 16:51. Co Secretary - AE implications. I can see an advantage to a non-director family member becoming company secretary as opposed to being a conventional non-director employee. The employee becomes a company officer (like a director) and potentially exempt from AE obligations. Particularly relevant of husband and wife companies.

  6. Feb 12, 2019 · Surely you're only going to get tax relief at 19% i.e. corp tax saving because the pension fund won't be claiming any relief on E'er's conts. I don't see the point unless the director has used up all the annual allowance elsewhere (and b/fwd spare) because if not then the relief will be at least 20% in PAYE i.e. marginal tax rate.

  7. Dec 7, 2010 · By Luke. 07th Dec 2010 19:40. As long as it would be justifiable if it was salary. I.e. you couldn't pay a spouse a £50k pension contribution for doing 2hrs a week. But along the usual lines of paying spouses, as long as it would be justifiable as salary (i.e. reasonable rate for the hours they actually do) then I believe you can pay it as a ...

  8. Aug 12, 2013 · My salary arrears have been fully paid to me only in the beginning of this year. Another interesting situation with my partner who is neither a company director nor company secretary - the company has declared her wages of around 9K per annum but instead of getting regular monthly payments she received the salary in 2 lump sums (4.5K each). As ...

  9. Jul 7, 2021 · By Tomazaan. 12th Jul 2021 10:50. You can still make reasonable pension contributions on behalf of the company secretary - say £5,000 to £10,000 a year. Being an officer of the company brings risk and the company secretary is an officer. Have a look on Google for ranges of what company secretaries are paid.

  10. Sep 15, 2006 · The Money Laundering Regulations 2003 require you to obtain "satisfactory evidence of identity", that is evidence which is reasonably capable of establishing (and which does in fact establish, to the satisfaction of the person who obtains it) that the client is the person (or company) that he claims to be. See Regulation 2 (5).
