May 14, 2023 · He’s done something horrible but he did it out of necessity, tried to mitigate the damage, and feels genuinely guilty for his actions. The tipping point is his (supposed) murder of Lucy Gray. Until this point everything Snow has done in the book was either to protect himself from death, or to help Lucy.

But in District 12, that dynamic completely shifted. Lucy Gray was free, and she could dance and sing to the mockingjays that Coriolanus hated so deeply.

The epilogue explains this point even further as Dean Highbottom tells Coriolanus that his father submitted Highbottom's idea for the Hunger Games as a test grade. Well, Coriolanus is a narcissist. He sees Sejanus useful to his goals. He took advantage of Plinths’ kindness and need for a Capitol friend. The family was kind of still considered outsiders looking in. Snow, like a snake, kept that thought as his own. Reply.
