Sep 11, 2015 · The Denver Developmental Screening Test-II (DDST-II) is a screening tool used to identify developmental delays in children ages birth to 6 years. It assesses four areas of development - personal-social, fine motor, language, and gross motor skills.
The Denver Developmental Screening Test (DDST) was introduced in 1967 to identify young children, up to age six, with developmental problems. A revised version, Denver II, was released in 1992 to provide needed improvements.
The DDST was revised and re-standardised in 1990 giving rise to the Denver II, which provides a more relevant, thorough test to screen for developmental delays. The Denver II consists of 125 items (the DDST has 105) divided into four general areas of development.
Type of Measure: The DENVER II is a measure of developmental problems in young children. It was designed to assess child performance on various age-appropriate tasks and compares a given child’s performance to the performance of other children the same age.
The original Denver II Developmental Screening Test (Frankenburg et al., 1992) was adapted for a study of the correlates of self-injurious, aggressive and destructive behavior in a sample of 56 children under five who were at risk of developmental delay.
