Jul 28, 2019 · Easy solution using 7-Zip (which is free of course), 7-Zip can extract rar files, just can't create them: Download and install 7-Zip. Highlight ALL of your zip/rar files. Right click > 7-Zip. Click "Extract to "*\". This will unzip all of the folders into their uncompressed folders, with all of the files within them.

If you use drag'n drop, then all files is first extracted to temp dir - and then they're copied to the destination. Also, extracting directly to a usb pen is substantially slower espechially when many small files.

Feb 7, 2016 · The format that I'm extracting files from is as .zip and under rare circumstances a .rar. The files usually range from 20 to 300MB. The SSD is just over half full, I know that ssds slow down as they fill up but everything else is still extremely fast. I do have a Seagate hard drive installed but its not usually involved when I extract files.
