For Sony a7iii, a7Riii and possibly others -- even possibly Canon or Nikon (obviously I shoot Sony, so I don't know about others), you can see the focus point in-camera. To do so, you simply view the image then hit the zoom button. The camera will display the focal point used on the image and will zoom in on that point.

  4. Dec 18, 2023 · 1 Correct answer. The only thing that can possibly be in metadata is the camera's record of where it put the focus points. And keep in mind that any camera's autofocus will miss quite frequently. As for someone saying "this is in focus and that is not", that's just good eyes and experience.

This data can be visualized using some 3rd party tools, but it would be highly useful to have this visualization cabability directly in Adobe Bridge. I personally use Sony Alpha camera which stores this data in JPEG and ARW files.

  7. Jun 3, 2017 · 1 Correct answer. To my knowledge, there isn't a plug-in for Lightroom that will show the focus points. This is a feature that is unique to each camera manufacturer. They create their own raw file format and that feature is stored differently by each manufacturer. Consequently, that is one of the features that Adobe has to ignore.

So, you can make a cheat sheet for yourself: shoot a bunch of photo with different focus points selected, and use ViewNX or CNX2 to display the focus points and draw them, labeled, on the cheat sheet.
