The Goethe-Institut (German: [ˈɡøːtə ʔɪnstiˌtuːt]; GI, Goethe Institute) is a non-profit German cultural association operational worldwide with 159 institutes, promoting the study of the German language abroad and encouraging international cultural exchange and relations. Around 246,000 people take part in these German courses per year.
In the language media centre of the Goethe-Institut Malaysia, books and media are available for those interested in learning or teaching German. Individual research work can be implemented at internet workstations. Malaysians, who want to study in Germany can meet a study consultant of the DAAD on a quarterly basis. 2.

With the European Translators’ Program, the Goethe-Institut, in cooperation with the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony, awards four work grants annually to literary translators from abroad.
