Apr 11, 2022 · Rakuten charges stamp duty (or rather Malaysia Govt) at 0.15% capped at RM1000, whereas US side stamp duty is included in the commission calculation above. Assuming point 2 is both around 0.55%, meaning the costs of trading via Rakuten is the extra stamp duty (still don't know why Malaysia govt tax US bought shares using IBKR anyway ...

Feb 5, 2021 · Requirement to Complete Form W-8: Form W-8, Certificate of Foreign Status, must be on file with IBKR. This form must be renewed every three years. If the form W-8 is no longer valid, IBKR will assume that you are a non-US person and withhold US tax at 30% on interest, dividends, gross proceeds and payments and lieu.

I just did a simple conversion using current moomoo rate and realise that I could get USD 21,101.09 (by converting RM 100,000) compared to getting only USD 21,050.49 via wise (by converting using RM 100,000 as well). Mar 9, 2024 · 3. Free US data. That's all I can think of. If you are using rakuten, you are basically using interactive broker. Just stick with interactive broker IMO. Interactive broker will always be cheaper. Stick with phone and web. Don't use TWS and you will be fine with IBKR. I find TWS easy to use wor.
