For example, when it comes to understanding the chemical aspect of human digestion, I am completely ignorant. That says something about how much I know about it: nothing.

You need to choose whether you need a verb or a noun. It is true that ignorant is more commonly used than ignoramus, but I don't think ignoramus is old fashioned.

Oct 10, 2005 · This is actually the Italian-English forum, so you should probably ask on the Spanish forum if you would like somebody to confirm this. As far as I know "la fata ignorante" has no particular meaning in Italian, it simply means "the ignorant fairy", but it is a strange thing to say, I guess. Where did you read/heard this expression?
