Nov 8, 2022 · One of such causes is men’s mental health, particularly suicide awareness. Last year, there were 312 attempted suicides reported in Malaysia, and 67.9% of which were male and 32.1% were female. Unfortunately, men’s mental health is often swept under the rug in the name of masculinity.
The existing male-unfriendly health-care system and the negative influence of masculinity on men's health behaviour must be addressed. A national men's health policy based on a male-friendly approach to health-care delivery is urgently needed to provide a framework for addressing these challenges.
