The Newcastle University MBBS medical degrees awarded to NUMed graduates lead to professional recognition and are subject to the requirements of both the UK General Medical Council (GMC) and the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC).
NUMed Malaysia. Newcastle University opened a branch campus in 2011 in the south of Johor, Malaysia. This was by invitation from the Malaysian government. Malaysian and International students can study MBBS here, following the same curriculum as in Newcastle, UK.
Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed) is an international branch campus of the Newcastle University Medical School, one of the top medical schools in the UK with high levels of teaching and research.
Newcastle University is ranked #129 in the world (QS World University Rankings 2025) and is one of the top 82 universities in the world for medicine (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024). In addition, NUMed is rated ' Berdaya Saing (Competitive)' in the latest SETARA rating.
Malaysian and International students can study MBBS here, following the same curriculum as in Newcastle, UK. Biomedical Sciences, Medical Education and Foundation in Science programmes are also available.
