Chelsea are an English punk rock band which formed in 1976. Three of the four original band members went on to found Generation X. More than two decades after its release, the band's debut single, "Right to Work", was included in the Mojo list of the best punk rock singles of all time.
On October 18th they made their live debut as Chelsea supporting Throbbing Gristle at London's ICA. It was at this time that Gene convinced Andy Czezowski, manager of a gay London nightspot in Covent Garden called Shageramas, to convert the club into London's first live punk rock venue called The Roxy - a fact for which he is given little credit.
Chelsea was an early 1970s band from New York City, best known for having drummer Peter Criss before he joined Kiss in 1973. They released one album, the self-titled album Chelsea, in 1970. Shortly after recording their unreleased second studio album, the band broke up.
