Apparently, despite constant sex with blond twinks, he believed he was straight and sex with young boys was just, you know, helping them along with their careers and their lives. Jun 13, 2022 · Fred Allen often sent Benny into hysterics on the radio show. If Allen's ad libs were pre-written, Benny did a good job laughing hysterically at them. The Jack Benny TV program was far less funny to me because after the first few live seasons it was filmed, and there was rarely any ad-libbing, pre-written or otherwise.

Basically, Hope rode the wave of the WWII generation and then in the late 60s, like Sinatra and others, openly looked down on the Baby Boomers. Watching his television specials and his movies now is often painful.
Oct 15, 2020 · Jack Benny from more or less the same time frame I always found very old-fashioned but arresting, for his timing, that even his insults were funny because they reflected back on him more than on the subject,, and for his unhurried fussiness. Where Hope was always the wisecracking asshole picking on others, Benny's insults usually splashed back in his face to reflect on the butt of his own joke ...
Dec 11, 2022 · Who knew Jackie Gleason and Jasmine Guy would have a connection. Jackie's daughter, Judy Geeson, married director Guy Hamilton, brother of George and Margaret. He's hardly forgotten! The Honeymooners is always being shown somewhere- Joyce Randolph, aka Trixie is still very much alive.

Benny was funny but clearly scripted though still influential (Carson and others drew a lot from him)---Lucy wasscripted always overrated---she lacked the subtle delivery to put over schtick that Benny had. by Anonymous.
