Apr 15, 2024 · Kelly Blue Book wasn't ever accurate outside of their ICO platform. KBB is a range and an average. In that average are wrecked cars with rebuilt titles. If you read the fine print it will say that the price can vary depending on condition, location, etc. This is also the most expensive time to buy a car.

I believe KBB ratings are very subjective. KBB is the standard for used pricing but if you look closely it's very variable. Another tool for older cars is Dashboard Light.

KBB tells us that the retail value for that car is whooping $20,500. That a TRADE-IN value (what a dealer should give you if you just walk on to the lot and tell them "I want to sell this piece of shit") is like $14.5. A buddy of mine is trying to get $15k for his.
