Nezu Kaichirō (根津 嘉一郎, August 8, 1860 – January 4, 1940) was a Japanese businessman, national politician and philanthropist. [1] Early life and career. Born into an established merchant family in Yamanashi, Yamanashi Prefecture, he moved to Tokyo in 1897, and became independently wealthy through stock investments.
Description. Son of Fujiemon Nezu, a landowner and oil merchant. After studying Chinese studies in Tokyo, he served as members of the village council, the country council and prefectural assembly and also as mayor of his native village.
