In some ways Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is really about Tarantino wishing that blissful late 60s time continued, and all the stars and movies of that era kept being made. I get the feeling he doesn't much like the cinema of Scorsese, Coppola, Hopper, Friedkin and the rest of the New Hollywood crew.

Mar 21, 2022 · The scene placement, color/film grade overlays, and the manner in which this edit was executed made it feel like I had a mental time machine and traveled right into the 60s Hollywood scene for a few hours. I mean this literally - I’ve watched it 3 times already just for the time travel experience.

Bruce was arrogant but he was also fully aware of the cultural climate around Hollywood at the time and it's hard to believe he would blatantly antagonize so many people and risk losing his job. Agreeing to a full-on bout in a film lot would be as stupid then as it is today.
