By all accounts, and indeed in recent interviews, he is as witty, and sharp as ever at 90. His distinctive voice hasn't lost any of its command or gravitas. It has barely aged.

  2. Jan 12, 2011 · 12/01/11 - 18:29 #17. Ha ha! Typical Tom wind-up,:D. Jon Pertwee's nature is a matter of open record. In fact as I recall, on the 5 Doctors DVD, there are some out-takes of Jon, Richard Hurndall, Patrick Troughton and Peter Davison, where he's being a real pain-in-the-*rse ! Still love his rendition of the Doctor BTW!

  3. Sep 5, 2024 · Not many duff stories during that period and some out and out classics such as Ark in Space, Genesis of the Daleks, Pyramids of Mars, Deadly Assassin, Robots of Death. The overall gothic tone of the Hinchcliffe/Holmes era plus the dynamic between Baker and Liz Sladen brought it all together. doublefour Posts: 6,414.

  4. Jan 26, 2015 · Tom Baker also disliked Matthew Waterhouse and Janet Fielding, although the three became friends years later." So, that was the reason Tom left in March 1981. He couldn't get on with JNT, and the changes that Nathan-Turner made happen.

How true are rumours, usually spread by Matthew Waterhouse ( Adric), that Baker was frequently drunk, difficult to work with and couldn't work with the new producer, John Nathan Turner, which led to Baker to announce his departure from the show in 1981 ...

  6. Tom Baker was and still is notoriously shy of anything that connected him with the other former actors to star as the Doctor, particularly Peter Davison, whom he despised. The concept of a reunion of the Doctors was nauseating to a man who saw himself as a great character actor, whose greatest achievement had been making Doctor Who a great success around the world.

  7. Apr 23, 2012 · As for Tom Baker, I know he didn't get on well with Louise Jameson and off course there were those arguments with Lalla Ward towards the end of their time together on the show. By all accounts, Tom and Louise didn't get off to a great start but after a confrontation over a scene while filming Horror of Fang Rock in Birmingham, things settled down into a better relationship between them.

  8. Nov 30, 2023 · Its Tom. I would be extremely worried if it was not strange. Everything about that amazing person could be classed as "strange" its what makes him Tom Baker. Him doing the audiobook of his life is still one of the most delightful things you will ever hear (It was on youtube for anyone who has not heard it)

  9. Dec 13, 2005 · As Tom Baker is consistantly voted Britains Favourite Doctor, what do fans consider to be Bakers Worst Moment. Nightmare To Eden must rate as the worst Baker story, despite the well written script and the adult drug theme, the production value is just sheer crap even for the seventies. The mandrels look like they've escaped from Rainbow at any ...

  10. Mar 2, 2011 · 02/03/11 - 10:22 #1. Just read an interview with Janet Fielding (Tegan) in Dr. Who monthly, turns out Tom Baker hated her! I found it hard to believe until they quoted him saying she was a silly airhostess and he had not time for her. He felt they lumbered him with too many assistants, but I can't see how they entitles him to treat her with ...
