What I have a problem with is when it is taken to the extreme. When their pectoral fins are ridiculously oversize I feel it takes away from the overall beauty and grace.

Read that, from 72 to 82, so it has to be in that range. 72-77F is in the ideal reange for bettas, 78-82 is. 70-77F is typical subtropical fish temps like otos and some cory (a few like Sterabi can tolerate warmer temps into the 80s).

"Dumbo" bettas (also called Elephant Ear "EE" bettas) are bettas of almost any tail type that have large, (usually) white, pectoral (or "side") fins. These fish require no extra care other than a normal betta, since your tank should already have soft plants & be "fin safe".

Mar 23, 2021 · In your mating, the HMPK is the normal, and your dumbo female is, well, the dumbo. The F1s, which will not be visual dumbos, are known as dumbo genotypes. The F2s, some of which will be visual dumbos, are known as dumbo phenotypes. It's all about the water. Reach for the siphon, not the meds.

May 7, 2023 · As long as pectorals are big, it is a dumbo. Moderate vs massive: like other betta traits, if it were crossed, it will have "partial" (so to speak) the said trait. But if constantly bred to the said genes, it becomes more and more pure hence the massive pects.
