Put one of your pressure plate bolts into the flywheel (so the head is flush with the flywheel, but it doesn't need to be tight) Place a pry bar, pipe, or some other piece of metal between the bolt head and the ground. Turn the flywheel in the direction of engine rotation until it makes contact with your prop, and torque away!
May 30, 2017 · The mechanism to engage the flywheel is faulty, probably it is seized, or battery doesn't have enough power to make the solenoid fully pull the mechanism (check battery charge). Hit the solenoid "moderately" with a mechanic hammer, one or two dry blows, if next crank try works, then the mechanism is getting seized and needs maintenance.

Jun 14, 2019 · Basically the answer is "no". You should leave both the ring gear on the flywheel (standard shift tranny) or flexplate (automatic tranny) and the gear on the Bendix dry. Summit Racing offers a (Performance Tool Flywheel Turners W80510) for under $20. For it to work you have to have a removable cover that allows access to the bottom of the flywheel. I have a similar tool and it works well although it can get tough to turn once the cylinder pressure builds up.
