Hinckley, then a member of the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dedicated the Manila Philippines Temple 25 September 1984.
The 26,683-square-foot Manila Philippines Temple was built on approximately 3.5 acres of land. The exterior finish is made of white ceramic tile. Six detached spires surround the temple, and the grounds are filled with grass fields and tropical vegetation.

On August 21, 1955, Joseph Fielding Smith , then of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ, dedicated the land in the Philippines for the preaching of the gospel.
