Sep 1, 2023 · Mikrotik has good prices and good firmware/software although I don't own any of their devices yet. With sufficient budget, I think diversity of routes with dual-WAN or a second gateway to the internet is useful to cover occasional outages. A firewall/(featureful) router such as OPNsense can be useful to take advantage of the characteristics of multiple service providers.
Aug 16, 2024 · If you wanted to do that you'd be better off with the chateau 5g R16 which only has 4 antenna ports on the modem. The R16 modem has 6x antenna ports, it has 2x ports for B32. But it's a lot easier to use the 4x ports for 4&5G (4x4 MIMO) and just leave the internal B32 antennas as they are. Last edited: Sep 1, 2024.

Jan 23, 2023 · Having decided to replace my Huawei B535, the two main options I am considering are to (a) add a Mikrotik Chateau LTE12 to my existing Poynting XPOL-A0002; or (b) switch to the new Mikrotik ATL LTE18. (I realise that there are other options, but I am quite impressed by the Mikrotik kit.) This is for use with EE 4G in the Scottish Highlands.
