Speech is a character statistic in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The player's current Speech level can be seen in the Player window below their character. It can also be seen on the Stats tab where players will see a breakdown of the actual level and any buffs that may increase it.

Feb 18, 2018 · Haggling, talking to people, and using speech option when talking increases your speech level. Just generally talking to everyone in the city is a fast way of levelling it. Does just talking to people passively increase it or do you have to use the speech option?

I just tested this with a blacksmith in Rattay. In short, Silver Tongue will not give you any additional Speech xp when haggling with a merchant you have already talked with before. I had 287 Speech xp points before starting and one Speech perk point with Silver Tongue still available to select.
Mar 11, 2018 · Haggling only increases speech if you have the relevant perk. Every new line of dialogue increases speech and so does using the speech skill check in dialogues. The system hasn’t changed since release (but a few bugs have been fixed since!)
Speech experience is gained by: Haggling - 2% (approx.) per successful haggle. Dialog - 0.5% (approx.) per unheard dialog option. Dialog already heard does not grant experience. Haggling will grant experience even if the result is the same price you would have gotten without haggling.
