Mile End is an area in London, England and is located in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is in East London and part of the East End . It is 4.2 miles (6.8 km) east of Charing Cross . [1]
A contrasting district of 18th-century terraces and postwar tower blocks, situated west of Bow. Mile End’s name derives from a hamlet – first recorded in 1288 – that grew up one mile from Aldgate.
Its streets and squares boast wonderful Georgian and Victorian properties. It is home to the 79-acre Mile End Park, Mile End Climbing Centre, Roman Road (and its traditional market and trendy shops and eateries), the Tower Hamlets Cemetery Nature Reserve, and Queen Mary’s College (part of the University of London).

East London is steeped in history and on 13 June 1944, the first flying bomb (or Doodlebug as they were known), fell by the railway bridge just off Grove Road.
