Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 (KLIA) and Terminal 2 (klia2) are principally setup as 2 separate terminals in same area but 2km distance apart. The transfer between these 2 terminals is estimated to be 4 to 10 mins, depending on transport options.
Passengers with connecting flights between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 can enjoy the free round-the-clock shuttle transfer services between the two terminals. The shuttle route is from Terminal 1 – Terminal 2 – Long Term Car Park (LTCP) – Terminal 1.
To travel quickly and smoothly between the klia2 and KLIA, passengers can take the Express Rail Link (ERL) train (KLIA Transit or KLIA Ekspres) at the ERL station of respective terminal. The ERL train is a fast and convenient travel option for inter-terminal transfer.

This is my top recommendation for how to get to KLIA from KLIA2 and vice versa for being quick and easy with less walking. Taking the Express Rail Link (ERL KLIA to KLIA2) is only a three-minute journey between the two terminals.
