Oct 4, 2023 · GEORGE TOWN: Fast lanes on Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway at The Light Waterfront will be closed to make way for the construction of an interchange. In a statement by developer IJM Land, it said the fast lanes in each direction bound for George Town and Bayan Lepas will be closed and diverted from Oct 15 to March 31 next year.
Jul 17, 2022 · GEORGE TOWN: Four motorcyclists were killed and three others injured in a fatal crash along the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway at about 4am today. The incident took place near KD Sri Pinang, heading towards the city centre. Three of them died at the scene while the fourth died while seeking treatment at the Penang Hospital here this afternoon.
Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Dr Lim Chong Eu passed away peacefully on Wednesday 24th November 2010, after a short illness. He is survived by his beloved wife, Toh Puan Goh Sing Yeng, children, Lim Chien Aun, Lim Pao Lin, Lim Pao Yen and Lim Chien Cheng, four grandsons and two great grandchildren.
Soon after his death, in honour of his immeasurable contributions to Penang, the state government renamed the Jelutong-Bayan Lepas expressway the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu expressway. Lim’s success in Penang’s industrial transformation was felt in the whole of Malaysia and not just on the island itself.
