Adaptation is pretty useful on Valkyr more for the fact that she basically face rolls into every enemy hoard she finds. The first enemy may die in 1 hit with additional power strength, however, every other enemy afterwards will also be shooting at you and that stacks up pretty heavily on a frame with only 1 type of damage reduction.

Adaptation is generally unreliable because of low attack speed, so I won't cover it. However, I believe most infested have single damage types for their attacks, so adaptation would fare decently well. For example, vs purely impact attacks adaptation will give 45% DR to shields and 90% DR to health.
