Of all California's cult Cabernets, Screaming Eagle is by far the most coveted. The original cult wine, it is produced in tiny quantities from a small vineyard in Napa's Oakville appellation.

Its yearly volume ranges between 550 and 850 cases each for two wines – its flagship Cabernet Sauvignon and the newer, Merlot-based blend The Flight. Screaming Eagle began making the latter in 2006, just after Kroeke’s purchase of the winery from founder Jean Phillips.
