Isao Takahata (高畑 勲, Takahata Isao, October 29, 1935 – April 5, 2018) was a Japanese director, screenwriter and producer. A co-founder of Studio Ghibli, he earned international critical acclaim for his work as a director of Japanese animated feature films.
Isao Takahata was born on 29 October 1935 in Ise, Japan. He was a director and writer, known for Pom Poko (1994), Grave of the Fireflies (1988) and The Tale of The Princess Kaguya (2013). He died on 5 April 2018 in Tokyo, Japan.
Isao Takahata is one of the most famous directors of anime, or Japanese animated films. Born in Ujiyamada (now Ise), Mie prefecture, Japan, he is a long-term colleague of Hayao Miyazaki and co-head at Studio Ghibli.
