Plot Synopsis. The tale was the rousing, handsome adventure story of the sailing of the H. M. S. Bounty in 1787, departing from Portsmouth, England for a two year voyage, its scientific mission to transport breadfruit from Tahiti to the West Indies as an inexpensive food source for plantation slave laborers.
Midshipman Roger Byam joins Captain Bligh and Fletcher Christian aboard HMS Bounty for a voyage to Tahiti. Bligh proves to be a brutal tyrant and, after six pleasant months on Tahiti, Christian leads the crew to mutiny on the homeward voyage.
