Named after Giuseppe Meazza, twenty years at Inter from 1927 to 1947 and 284 goals scored, the stadium is also known as San Siro, after the neighbourhood that hosts it. It is nicknamed the 'Scala' of football and was the scene of Inter's history from 1927 onwards.
An injury put him out of action for most of 1938/39, and after having devoted the best part of his career to Inter, Meazza transferred to AC Milan on 28 November 1940. In almost a century of rivalry, Meazza is the only man who has ever come close to bridging the chasm between the two clubs.
