The official reopening means the 70,000 vehicles that travel along the busy arterial road can finally increase their speed back up to 60 kilometres per hour. The 3.5km Kingsford Smith Drive upgrade is now complete, with six lanes opened to traffic in late 2020. The corridor is a major gateway to Brisbane’s Central Business District connecting with the Brisbane Airport, Trade Coast industrial area and the urban renewal area of Northshore Hamilton.
