Porto Murtinho is a small town of 14 thousand people, located at the southern end of the Pantanal. This is where the Paraguay river leaves Brazilian territory - heading towards the Paraguayan capital of Asunción. The town isn't often visited by foreign tourists but has several small lodges and Barco-Hotels used for fishing tours.
