Nov 3, 2022 · 1.1 The concept of hate. Hate has been generally conceptualized as a negative emotional attitude (Allport, 1954; White, 1996) toward persons or groups who are considered to possess fundamentally negative traits (Allport, 1954; Ben-Ze'ev, 2000; Royzman et al., 2006; Sternberg, 2003 ).
As nouns the difference between contempt and hate is that contempt is the state of contemning; the feeling or attitude of regarding someone or something as inferior, base, or worthless; scorn, disdain while hate is an object of hatred. As a verb hate is to dislike intensely or greatly.
May 11, 2022 · Our key finding is that, across the different dimensions, hate seems most distinct from dislike and anger, somewhat less distinct from contempt, and least distinct from disgust. For instance, compared with dislike, anger or contempt (but not disgust), participants rated their experiences of hate as more intense.
At the intergroup level, results revealed that participants experience hate as more arousing than the three moral emotions, more intense than dislike, anger and contempt, and feel more inclined toward attack-oriented behaviors than when they feel dislike and contempt.
